Officials at PolyMet have already received phone calls from supporters and opponents about the environmental impact statement released yesterday.

The official comment period for the public begins Monday and lasts at least 45 days.
The DNR and Army Corps of Engineers will respond to all comments submitted before finalizing the 1,800 page EIS.

"I think it's going to have a lot of support. We've had an overwhelming amount of people contacting me wanting to know what they can do to support us in the project," said LaTisha Gietzen, V.P. of Public Governmental and Environmental Affairs for PolyMet.

The impact statement can be read on the Minnesota DNR website.

PolyMet spokespeople say they are confident the proposed environmental impact statement will be approved and they will be able to move forward.
