Duluth Woman Allegedly Stabs Sister

DULUTH, MN (Northland's Newscenter)---A 26 year old Duluth woman is in jail after allegedly stabbing her sister in the face.

The incident apparently began after Stephanie Lynn Mattinas, found her boyfriend and her sister sleeping together.

Mattinas has been charged with assault in the first degree, and three counts of assault in the second degree after the fight that occurred Tuesday afternoon on 4th Street in Duluth.

According to the criminal complaint, Mattinas repeatedly hit the man with a wooden bat several times ultimately forcing him out the back door.

The defendant then allegedly stabbed her sister with a piece of wood approximately 8–10 inches long in the left side of her face.

The woman's sister was taken to St. Mary's Hospital by Gold Cross ambulance.

Mattinas is being held at the St. Louis County jail. Bail has been set at $75,000.
