Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - An aircraft company with ties to Duluth is in the process of hiring engineers for a new single engine aircraft.

Kestrel Aircraft is based out of Maine, but now has a satellite office on West Michigan Street in Duluth.

The company was created by Cirrus co-founder Alan Klapmeier, after he left the company last year.

To move ahead with the aircraft project, the company is looking to hire seven engineers, all of whom will be based out of the Duluth office.

Company officials stressed to the Northland's NewsCenter on Friday the aircraft themselves will be produced in their Brunswick, Maine facility while the engineering staff in Duluth will work on design.
