Power Outage Zaps Parts of Duluth

April 19, 2011 Updated Apr 19, 2011 at 10:11 AM CST

A power outage hit areas of Duluth west of 2nd Avenue East and lasted for about 5 minutes.

The blackout stretched from areas below Skyline Parkway; including Downtown Duluth and Canal Park, and even stretched as far south as Boundary Avenue near Proctor.

Traffic signals around those areas were hit by the outage as well, causing back ups.

The Northland's NewsCenter signal was cut off during that time but is operational again.

According to Minnesota Power the outage could have been caused by a technician working on a feeder line but the official cause is unknown at this time.

Power has been restored to these areas and Minnesota Power says the problem is fixed.
