Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -Kids ranging from fourth to eighth grade classes at the school, and members of 4-H in the Duluth area faced of before they each head to their respective regional competitions.
The robots had to be pre-programmed to complete certain tasks, each which was wroth a certain amount of points.
While the scrimmage offered a chance for students to hone their skills before their big competitions, it further drove home the point for teachers that learning can be fun.
"It's just a great way for them to be creative and they learn a ton based on the fun that they are having in robotics. Making the robot move is the fun part but the mathematics, science and engineering behind it is the critical thing that they don't even know they are learning, but they are learning a ton," said Anne Castle, math teacher and robot coordinator at Marshall School.
The scrimmage has a theme for the tasks the robots have to complete.
This year's theme was food safety.
