Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- As social media becomes more integrated into our lives, being technologically savvy becomes more important every day.
That's why dozens of UMD students and faculty set up booths at the Kirby Ballroom to demonstrate the latest in technological gadgets and software.
Tech Fest also offered an update on the latest advances for Google, such as Google Plus and the recently released iPad.
Jason Davis, a manager of information technology for Google, says that it's gatherings like these that bring out the best ideas in the next generation of technology.
"We have an incredible amount of faculty, staff and youth, just individual users that are pushing the envelope on technology and we hardly know what is going on until we all get into a room together to see all the exciting new projects," says Davis.
A Facebook boothwas also set up to show students how social media can help students in their academic success.
