The wait is finally over for Verizon customers... the apple IPhone is on its way to the network.

The cell phone company announced today that Apple's popular IPhone will be available through Verizon in the early part of February.

It has been one of the immortal rumors of the tech world since the iPhone was introduced several years ago, and now it's finally true.

A circus atmosphere surrounded the announcement today in New York, as executives from Verizon and Apple announced that the wireless carrier would finally be able to carry the most popular smart phone in the world.

The IPhone will go on sale February Tenth in Verizon stores across the country, and some customers may be able to pre-order the device on February third.

Currently the IPhone is only available on AT and T's network, that deal is now over.

Although the handsets will be nearly indistinguishable from each other, there are some differences between the AT an T and Verizon IPhone.

The Verizon iPhone will operate as a CDMA phone and it can operate as a mobile hot spot.

The AT and T version can not do that.

There's been a lot of hype surrounding today's announcement, and Verizon Employees are excited about the iPhone heading their way.

Verizon Sales Manager Keith Berg said "I'm ecstatic we've had a lot of our customers and our customer base that have been wanting this, wanting to use the iPhone four on Verizon's widest and most reliable 3g network for many many years so now we can say we have that partnership and we're very excited about it."

If a lot of people jump ship from AT and T to Verizon, it might actually be a good thing for users.

It could ease network congestion resulting in less dropped calls and more reliable web browsing.
