Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The milestone of a 100th birthday is something few people achieve, and for one Superior woman, it came with an unexpected twist.

Bertha "Nanny" Stephens moved to the Twin Ports from the deep south at the age of ninety, and has seen an awful lot in her 100 years...but never expected to become an internet sensation.

LeAnn Wallace attended her Birthday party with friends and family, and tells us how it all came to be.

In life sometimes there are no easy answers to the big questions.
Like, what's the meaning of life? Or how do we attain true happiness?

When you're 100 years old like Nanny...those answers come a bit easier.

"I didn't know when he was putting me on the computer that all this stuff was going to happen."

Just two days before Nanny's 100th birthday her grandson logged on to Reddit.com...and offered internet users a chance to tap into the wisdom of her experience.

"It was a lot of questions. I answered over 100 I'm sure and we've got some more to go."

Thousands more to go, actually...and the spunky centenarian gives candid answers.

So...what advice can you give us about love?

"Communicate. I think that's the best advice is to communicate."

And for those who don't have love?

"How to find a boyfriend? Well there probably is one right around the corner."

And when it comes to the most important aspect of life?
Nanny answered...a happy family. And that's how she spent her 100th Birthday.

"I have all my favorite people here today and I'm so lucky to have you."

"What's your favorite birthday? This one."

Choosing to live each year, each day...in the moment.

And when life gets hard?

"Just keep on truckin'...just keep on truckin, that's all I can tell you."

...advice she's certainly earned the right give.

And if you're wondering about Nanny's southern drawl, she moved to
the Northland 10 years ago from South Carolina. She says the only thing it's missing is grits.
