DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)---A home grown Duluth star is putting her weight behind Eighth District DFL Congressional Candidate Jeff Anderson.

Maria Bamford, who has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows, including a popular series of holiday Target commercials, attended a fundraising luncheon at Zeitgeist Arts Cafe in downtown Duluth, Tuesday.

Anderson says 90 percent of the money raised in his campaign comes from Minnesota donors including 60 percent from the 8th congressional district.

"Some of the others in this race have a lot of outside money, money from all across this country," Anderson said. "But the support I have in the race comes from right here. It's great to have a homegrown talent like Maria helping me to raise that money."

DFLers Rick Nolan and Tarryl Clark are also vying for the 8th Congressional District seat.

The winner of the DFL primary election in August will face Republican Congressman Chip Cravaack in November.
