Park Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Crews have been able to contain 65% of the Green Valley Fire near Menagha, MN after it destroyed over 50 structures.
Officials say that 55 structures were lost , including 12 homes, 2 commercial properties and 41 out buildings.
As of Thursday 8 p.m., the Minnesota DNR reported the 7,100 acre fire was 65 percent contained.
All road closures in the Menagha and Park Rapids area have been lifted.
A small helicopter with hand-held heat-sensing equipment has been out all day Friday searching for remaining hotspots within the fire area. Fire crews have also been helping to put out any hotspots and continue to improve containment lines and provide structure protection.
They say people who have lost their homes and thousands of dollars of damage to their properties are being relocated to places in Park Rapids and Sabeka
The Red Cross was assisting close to 200 firefighters near Wolf Creek.
