Carlton, MN (Nortland's NewsCenter) --- What packs 250 pound buns and hogs up a whole parking lot?

Why, the world's largest hamburger and the people lining up to eat it, of course!

Black Bear Casino Food Services teamed up with the Twig Bakery to break into the Guinness Book of World Records.

One of their judges was in Carlton to make sure everything was on the up and up.

The 2,000 pound burger smashed the old record of 881 pounds.

The record attempt was the dream of executive chef Gerald Bayerl and took half a year to come true.

"Chef came up with the idea six months ago," Rodney Aiken, Black Bear Buffet Manager said. "It was just an idea that has slowly been maturing. In the last month, we've gone full bore with it."

The burger was10 feet in diameter and held 60 pounds of bacon, 100 pounds of lettuce and onions, plus eighty pounds of pickle and cheese.

After certification as the world record holder, the burger was immediately fed to those who came to see it cook.
