DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - College students could see a brew pub near the UMD campus, as well as some other neighborhood changes in future.
Wednesday Duluth Mayor Don Ness met up with UMD students for a question-and-answer session partly about possible development of the Woodland School area into housing and retail.
The area would be geared towards college students and be similar to "Dinkytown" in Minneapolis.
The mayor also discussed housing, rental reform, city population and other items students questioned him about.
"Students don't seem to have a main place to go for on weekends or Friday nights or something like that and this, like a Duluth "Dinkytown" might be a good way to fulfill students' needs to have that sort of fun activity on the weekends," said Zach Filipovich of UMD's Student Association.
A small area plan around the campus is in the works to address issues such as housing and students.
