An increase in members and a need for more space is behind a new expansion for the Chequamegon Food Co–Op in Ashland.
The co– op will be moving two doors down, moving from a two thousand square foot space to a six thousand square foot space.
The expansion will bring up to 14 new jobs and bring in at least one hundred thousand dollars more in inventory.
A fresh meat counter and fresh fish department will be added, along with a deli.
The new store will also feature indoor and outdoor seating.
With over two thousand members, staff say it was time for an expansion.
"We've outgrown the space that we've got now. It becomes very crowded in here now On certain days we have in the summer over 400 customers a day coming in on a 9 hour period and it just gets very congested," said Harold Vanselow GM of the Co-Op.
A classroom will also be added so employees can teach cooking classes.
The new store should be open for business at the end of August.
