-- Grandma's Sports Garden in Duluth will be hosting a benefit this Sunday for a Hermantown mother recently diagnosed as cancer free but still dealing with major medical bills.
Lori Dowd was diagnosed with an extremely rare from of cancer in March after having constant stomach pain.
After undergoing medical treatment in the Twin Cities, doctors are confident that she is now cancer free but her on-going rehabilitation has left her unable to work.
A benefit to help Dowd pay for her mounting medical bills will start at three this Sunday.
Dowd says the whole experience has given her a new outlook on life and an appreciation of her family and friends.
"I think the most important thing is to enjoy life enjoy what you have because it could be gone tomorrow."
