Superior, WI (Northlands NewsCenter)
-- An organization dedicated to protecting victims of domestic violence is celebrating a milestone in their quest to acquire a new facility.

The Center against Sexual and Domestic Abuse raised nearly 900,000 dollars to renovate and open their new building in Superior.

Phase One of their New Beginnings Capital Campaign will allow construction to begin on six rooms to house women and children who are fleeing abusive situations.

The next phase of fundraising will rely on individuals in the community. Their goal is to raise 1.1 Million Dollars allowing the full facility to open in the future.

"The move to CASDA's new facility will allow for the consolidation of all our programs and services into one location and eventually we'll expand our emergency shelter to provide more services...it will be a 10 bedroom facility," said Kelly Burger, the Executive Director of CASDA.

The six rooms should be completed in four to six months.
