Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Brian Aho of Duluth's Riverside Neighborhood has setup shop along Grand Avenue.
He's armed with his chair, a sign and a free hand. The former Drill Sergeant is marching in the steps of his 7b House candidate pick.
"I can't back him with money," Aho said. So I back him with time"
Plenty of time, because he's retired.
"I can sit out here and wave."
Getting a better idea of who is voting for his candidate.
"I've gotten a lot of horn honking, high fives, and a few one finger salutes. That you have to live with."
It's a race Aho says is important to not only him, but the city. This is his way of contributing to what he believes in.
"I hope so, I do, I hope it does"
Hoping each passing honk is a vote..
"It can't be because of my waving."
Aho says he plans on doing the same routine several days a week through election day. The 7B race is pitting Independent candidate Jay Fosle against DFL endorsed Erik Simonson and Republican Travis Silvers.
