Cook, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Cook Hospital is leading the way to try to find a purpose for the vacant Cook School building.

The school was closed after Cook and Orr schools merged for the 2011-2012 school year.

Hospital officials are planning a meeting for area legislators, school officials and members of the community to discuss how the building can be used.

Hospital officials say they aren't necessarily interested in using the building space themselves, but wanted to get the conversation started.

"We felt that we needed to start the dialogue. We felt that no idea is a bad idea," said hospital CEO, Al Vogt, "Some may work, some may not work, but we just want to be a good partner in the community itself."

The meeting will be held March 21st at 6 p.m. in the hospital conference room.
