Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Sunday was a day of support for a St. Louis County Commissioner who has fought to end homelessness in the community and is now fighting cancer.

Steve O'Neil has been an advocate of providing housing for those without for the last 30 years. In support of his cause and his current battle with cancer, a fundraiser was held Sunday at Clyde Iron Works.

Money raised will be given to CHUM, an agency which O'Neil has supported for years.

"Steve's tireless advocacy and working with our community organizations and congregation over the years has just been phenomenal. He is an amazing man," said Mary Schmitz with CHUM.

The money raised during the event will help fund a new family shelter for those without homes.
