Ely, MN (NNCNOW.com)- The Minnesota DNR has expressed strong concern over the methods being used by Dr. Lynn Rogers to research bears.
In a letter sent to Rogers last month, DNR Commissioner Tom Landwehr wrote that he was concerned over the lack of published research from Rogers. He also included that residents had expressed concern over Rogers' research methods, saying they are unable to enjoy their property without fear of coming into contact with one of Rogers research bears.
Rogers maintains that his methods are the best for learning about the animals and educating others.
"I realized that the stuff I used to think was dangerous, that was them [the bears] being ferocious, was just them expressing their own anxiety," said Rogers.
Rogers says that he has yet to issue a response to the DNR, but plans to do so.
