Deer Hunter Accidentally Shot, Killed in Douglas County

Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) - A deer hunter is dead after being accidentally shot by his companion.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. Monday off County Road W near Barnes Road southwest of Superior.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department says the victim died at the scene as a result of the injury.

Life flight was called to the area along with a Medical Examiner who was seen arriving shortly after the incident.

The names of both people involved are being withheld while family is notified.

The Sheriff's department, town of Superior Fire Department and Gold Cross responded to the scene.
