Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - After months of raising money, a new display that commemorates the storied past of Denfeld Hunter hockey was unveiled tonight at the Heritage Sports Arena.

The permanent display is located in an interior arch of Sill Arena.

It features a collection of historic photos, highlighting its teams and players from the past.

Old newspaper clippings and other materials for the collage came from former hockey players and from the Denfeld School's archives.

We caught up with one of the organizers during a pre–reveal party with those who donated money to the project.

"We generated a little over $20,000. Donations came from just Denfeld—past Denfeld—hockey players, as many as we could find. And they range from Alaska, to California, to Texas, to Florida, Rhode Island, New York. And old hockey players have big hearts we found out. Especially Denfeld and we were very proud of what they were able to do for us," Rick Francisco, the project leader said.

The Denfeld Wall is 11 feet wide by 10 feet high and Francisco hopes it will inspire young and old to enjoy the sport of hockey.

The unveiling took place during the half–time of the Hunters taking on the Eveleth–Gilbert Golden Bears game.
