Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - A memorial service was held at the Zoo earlier today for Dolly Llama-a crowd favorite and star in her own right.
Dolly, who was twelve when she passed away on November seventh from unknown causes, was featured in many of the Lake Superior Zoo's commercials.
Often described as cantankerous and sassy, Dolly attracted crowds of fans who always referred to her by name and adored her-despite her habit of sometimes spitting on those who would approach her.
"She became a llama that we could all handle. We could trust her in the barnyard, other than she spit on people. She loved the kids and the attention, and she could be very sassy and stubborn," said Holly Henry with the Lake Superior Zoo.
Attendees also had the opportunity to donate to a Dolly the Llama memorial fund.
The proceeds from the fund will go toward improvements to the barnyard, where Dolly spent many happy years of her life.
