Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Duluth DFL party is throwing their support behind candidates running for both city council and school board seats.

The party hosted their convention at the Lincoln Park Middle School Saturday.

A handful of school board and city council nominees were endorsed including Henry Banks for the At–Large School District seat.

The DFL also endorsed Howie Hanson for City Council District 4 and Council President Patrick Boyle for the second district.

Boyle wants to emphasize fixing Duluth's streets during this re–election bid.

"The thousand-pound gorilla is definately streets. I think everyone has noticed what's been happening, especially after the flood last year and this horrible winter we've had, we need to do a better job on that," Boyle said.

Councilor Boyle also wants the issue of synthetic drug usage to be addressed.
