Chicago, IL (NNCNOW.com) --- Frisbees are flying and robots are climbing in the Windy City as teams face off on the first day of competition for the Midwest Regional Robotics Tournament.

The Northland's very own Duluth East Daredevils are representing Minnesota at the tournament. In fact, they are the only team from Minnesota competing at the Midwest Regional. There are even three teams that have flown all the way from the country of Turkey to compete at the robotics tournament.

During today's matches, the Daredevils were able to win five out of seven games.

While talking to Team Captain Kirsi Kutti on the phone, the team has confidence that they will qualify for the top 8 teams and make it into the final rounds.

But this weekend isn't just about robots for the Daredevils.

Students have been exploring the amazing city of Chicago and taking in all the sights.

"Chicago is such a great city. When we're not at the competition, going outside and just looking at the beautiful tall buildings is amazing," says Anna Karas, Daredevils co-captain.

Currently the Daredevils rank 12th out of 53 teams.
