Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Duluth Figure Skating Club has been spending a lot of time off the ice lately.
That's because they're getting ready to be part of Fridays Christmas City of the North Parade in Duluth.
LeAnn Wallace caught up with the skaters as they prepare their rockin' float.
A lot of behind the scenes work goes into perfecting a parade float.
"We're going to try to get all the white stuff down here and get the garland and the lights and make sure everything works so we are ready to shine." said coach Angie Lien Pienaar .
The Duluth Figure Skating Club is once again gearing up to shine in this year's Christmas City of the North Parade.
The parade is in its 53rd year, and this is the third year in a row the club has joined in on the Northland tradition.
"They've been really excited all this week and for months now, actually," said coach Nikki Feehery.
The club's theme this year might get you dancing.
"This year's theme is a Rock and Roll Christmas," said Feehery.
"We're going to have the skaters rocking out behind the float and we're going to have some good music pumping" said Lien Pienaar.
Things are already looking brighter, or at least warmer than last year.
"We had... I don't even know how many feet of snow and we were getting frost bite. It was really super cold so this year's a lot nicer," said Feehery.
The skaters have been busy learning their dance moves all week.
"They get so excited and bundled up and they just have big smiles on their faces all week asking if it's time for the parade yet," said Lien Pienaar.
Even if the float isn't quite ready...sounds like the skaters are all set to go.
You can catch the Duluth Figure Skating Club and all of the other parade participants Friday night beginning at 6:20.
