Enbridge Energy Moves Forward With Crude Oil Pipeline Expansion

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) Enbridge Energy will now be able to pump more crude oil through its Alberta Clipper pipeline from Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin.

The Public Utilities commission approved the company's expansion plans last night.

Starting in mid August, Enbridge Energy plans to spend $40 million to upgrade pump velocity at three stations in Viking, Clearbrook and Deer River, Minnesota.

Once complete, an additional 120,000 barrels of crude oil will be shipped each day.

The 36 inch Alberta Clipper pipeline runs 1,000 miles from Hardisty, Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin.

It was built four years ago.
