Duluth, MN (Northland's Newscenter) - The restoration project began in March and the tower will have its grand opening on June 3rd.
New lighting, made possible by a large donation from Duluth Rotary Club 25, will illuminate the tower at night.
The L-E-D system is computer controlled and is made of "CORE - 10", a special type of steel.
"What Core10 steel does is itself weather. It will take on a patina all of its self. A good local example if you want to see what it looks like patina; is if you go up to the UMD campus, you look at their new engineering building, those panels on the exterior of that building, that's a Core 10 steel," said Duluth Facility Manager Terry Groshong.
Groshong says once the lighting posts have been weathered, they will blend in with the surroundings near Enger tower.
The Northland's News Center will bring you the ceremonial lighting of the tower LIVE on June 3rd.
