Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Erik Simonson, a write-in candidate running for the MN House District 7B seat, has received two more endorsements.

The AFL-CIO Central Labor Body as well as AFSCME Council 65 announced their respective endorsements on Sunday.

They are Simonson's fifth and sixth major endorsements, after the MN-DFL, Duluth Building Trades, AFSCME Council 5, and the Minnesota Professional Firefighters.

Simonson is currently Duluth's Assistant Fire Chief and has served the Fire department for 22 years.

He launched his write in campaign after Representative Kerry Gauthier's campaign was derailed by news that he had engaged in a sexual act with a minor at a rest stop in Duluth.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Supreme Court will soon decide whether St. Louis County will remove Gauthier's name from the November ballot and replace it with Simonson's.

Other candidates in the race include Republican endorsed candidate Travis Silvers and and Duluth City Councilor Jay Fosle, a declared write-in candidate.
