Superior, WI (Northlands NewCenter)
-- Magnetation is just the latest of three big manufacturers with an eye on Superior.

Close to one-thousand potential jobs have been announced for the city in recent weeks.

To help keep pace with the demand for a skilled labor force, one Wisconsin Senator has designated February Career and Technical education month.

Senator Bob Jauch read a proclamation at the Wisconsin Indianhead technical College making February a month to raise awareness about the importance of vocational education.

Jauch says that with three job creators; Kestrel, Exdodus, and now possibly Magnetation, coming the area, a specialized work force is essential for filling the thousands of jobs that are on there way.

"Employers are going to look at vocational education as well into the high schools in the area to produce workers who can either be leaving high school or leaving vocational schools ready to go in and fill those jobs as soon as they become available"

The Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College is considering creating a specialized certificate serving the new manufactures coming to the area.
