Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- First graders at St. John's Elementary School in Duluth performed a classic today.

The Lion King was acted out by the young thespians including four songs from the Disney movie.
The students began rehearsal for the play four months ago.
Their teacher says it was a big project, but a unique learning experience and a great way to end the year.

"First we have to be able to read the words because we're first grade, so we read the words. Then they memorize the words. It's a 30 page play, so for seven-year-olds that's quite a bit" said First Grade Teacher, Dawn Pavlovich.

The Lion King was chosen as this year's play because St. John's received a visit from two priests from Ghana, Africa.
