Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -The Far-West-Fest was the first festival the community has experienced in 16 years.

A craft fair, zoo mobile, a picnic and classic car show were all part of the festivities this weekend.

The event was put on in hopes that former Gary New Duluth Residents may return for some summer fun and Far West Fest president says it did just that and so much more.

"People are really, really enjoying it and embracing it, which is great because it makes it easier for us to go into next year with a positive attitude knowing the people in the community, not just Gary New Duluth but all the communities are behind us," said Far West Fest President Dan Hinenkamp.

The Far West Fest already has dates set for next year.

Mark your calendars for 2nd Annual Far West Fest, June 22 through the 24th of 2012.
