Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- The average home in Duluth was built in 1946 which makes it about 68 years old.

But how do the amenities of that average home stack up against the national housing stock?

The United States Department of Housing came up with some statistics to give us a picture of what the average homes looks like in the U.S.

Realtors say there is another feature to a home that is very important to people looking to buy or sell in this market.

"84 percent of the single family homes that sold in 2013 had a garage, at least a one car garage. So, that's pretty high, so people like to park their cars out of the snow," said Sarah Wisdorf, President of Duluth Area Association of Realtors.

Realtors say the market has been slow coming off of a harsh winter, but they expect it to pick back up going into summer.
