Virginia, MN (Northland's NewCenter) - November is National Caregivers Month. An event on the Iron Range Thursday not only paid tribute to caregivers, but provided training to help them with their jobs.
Family Caregiver Day, held at the Virginia Elks Club, hosted speakers and vendors, who gave tips to those giving home care to a loved one with some sort of medical, mental or other difficulty.
Organizers of the event included Range Respite, Essentia Health, Elder Services Network and Home Instead Senior Care.
Those involved say the purpose of the day was to show caregivers that help is available and that they're not alone.
"We're hoping that they're leaving with a little more information. Both the information provided by the speakers as well as from all of the vendors," said Respite Care Coordinator, Linda Kolocek.
This was Range Respite's 18th Family Caregiver Day.
