Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.COM) --- Nearly 80 homeless cats and dogs from across the Twin Ports have been adopted into a new home, thanks to the Love-A-Pet Adoption event at Miller Hill Subaru.
The weekend event featured no-fee cat and kitten adoptions and discounted dog adoptions.
Animal Allies and the Douglas County Humane Society teamed up with the car dealership.
It's part of a nationwide campaign put on by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
People were encouraged to take part in the "Fill a Subaru" campaign.
For each item donated from a wish list, adopters received a micro-chip for their pets.
"Microchips are very important especially for re-homing your animals,” Amy Miller of Animal Allies said. “If your pet gets lost, they just scan the top of your animal and it will give them a number and that's linked to your information so they can call you and tell you that they found your animal."
Pets also had the opportunity to get their picture taken with Santa.
The Duluth Camera Exchange will donate the holiday picture proceeds to Animal Allies to support ongoing adoption and programming.
The continues on Sunday.
