Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The NewsCenter's very own meteorologist Jeff Edmonson was on hand in Bayfront Park today as well, serving as a judge for the first ever Miss Bayfront Pageant.
Young ladies ranging from ages five to 24 took to the stage in Bayfront Park today to compete for the title.
The event was made possible after a group in the area teamed up with the organizers of the Miss Minnesota pageant.
Officials with Miss Minnesota say they are excited to hold what they hope is the first of many Miss Bayfront Pageants.
"There are a lot of young ladies up here who I think will be very interested in the program. As part of the Miss America and Miss Minnesota organization, they're part of worlds largest source of scholarship money for young ladies in America, awarding $45 million annually," said David Shepardson, director of Miss Minnesota Pageants.
The winner of today's pageant walked away not only with a title and a crown, but also a $500 dollar scholarship and a full paid trip to the Miss Minnesota pageant next June.
