Cable, WI (NNCNOW.com) - Managers of the Telemark Lodge Resort in Cable stress they're not closing.

That following a published report Monday saying the landmark which has played host to several international events was closing.

One of Wisconsin's biggest convention centers north of the dells, Telemark Lodge has a big economic impact.

"We need a strong successful Telemark to drive the economy" said James Bolen, Executive Director for Cable Area Chamber of Commerce.

A report published Monday in Business North stated the lodge would be closing indefinitely, which came as a surprise to management.

"I heard that for the first time today, I got a call from a reporter asking that and I was quite surprised," said General Manager Robin Bucholz.

"Last year for what we call the mud months, April and May we had a temporary shut down where we close the restaurant close the lodge and deep clean everything. Get it cleaned up from last season. There was no talk of an indefinite closing, or going out of business or anything of the sort," Bucholz added.

The the director of the Cable Chamber of Commerce says he heard the opposite.

"The story that we heard yesterday from the management group is that the facility is closing. That there are some issues," said Bolen.

Issues he says include the power company turning off the power because of a possible shift in ownership.

"The current owner has been working with a group for about a year now to potentially buy Telemark there is a purchase agreement as far as I know that has been executed and put on the table and are continuing to work through that process," said Bucholz

For now managers say they're looking forward to a good season ahead and the lodge will open back up sometime mid May.
