(Northland's NewsCenter)---Hospitals nationwide are being graded according to their safety measures, and Northland hospitals in Minnesota aren't receiving the highest scores.
According to a non-profit watchdog group called Leapfrog, about 180,000 deaths occur each year as a result from hospital errors and injuries.
The organization uses various data sources to grade the hospitals safety records.
In the Northland, Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center and Essential Health Duluth both received Bs
.
St. Luke's hospital, Virginia Regional medical Center and Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi each received Cs.
Of 46 hosptials rated in Minnesota, 17 received As.
