Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Powerball Jackpot is on the rise meaning that hundreds of millions of dollars are up for grabs...sending people out rushing to get their hands on what could be the winning ticket

The payout is sitting at $425 million dollars right now.

The jackpot has moved up 12 times without any winners.. the last winner was crowned on June 22.. but Wednesday could be someone's lucky night

This is the third largest Powerball jackpot in history..

Odds of winning the big drawing sit at 1 in 175 million... but Powerball officials tell us there is a 61 percent chance of the winning combination of numbers being drawn tonight.

In order to win the big prize, the winner has to draw six numbers that match all six numbers randomly selected through the lottery system.

Now the 400 million dollar jackpot is worth 244 million if the winner opts for the one time cash payout.

Convenience stores and gas stations are expecting a massive spike in sales before tonight's drawing... and to many it's just the appeal of waking up a millionaire on Thursday.

"They want to be a millionaire. I mean I would love to have $425 million dollars to my name."

"I'll pay off my house, pay off my wife's car, I'll pay off my car, I'll off my student loans."

To put the sales spike in perspective for you- officials from the Minnesota State Lottery tell us that from 3 to 4 p.m Wednesday, $226,000 worth of power ball tickets were sold.. that averages out to about $3700 spent per minute for ticket hopefuls.

The drawing is expected to take place at 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Tickets are 2 dollars a piece
