Proctor, MN (NNCNOW.COM)---Citizens of Proctor are banding together to create a brand new event center and hockey rink for the community.

Proctor Public Schools and the Proctor Amateur Hockey Association are joining with the city of Proctor to raise $10M for the Proctor Area Arena and Event Center.

Interested parties met at Proctor High School this evening to discuss potential donors.

Fundraisers say they have seen the positive effect an event center can have on the community and Proctors current arena is beyond out of date.

"The arena that we have presently was built in '71 and it's expectancy was thirty years at that time so we're forty plus years into it now and it's got some issues, some safety issues on top of that so it's time for a new rink," says Kris Bryant, President of PAHA.

They have applied for state bonding and began fundraising drives.
