Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- Many fire works will be going off tonight around the Northland, but there are some pets that may not like those loud noises.

Veterinarians say the most common behavior problems associated with fear of loud noises is destruction and escaping.

They say your pet's reaction to loud noises could get worse as it ages.

Veterinarians say the noise triggers anxiety in your pet and have a few tips on how to keep them calm during thunderstorms or firework events.

"Obviously being as insulated from the noise as possible. Not having them outside having them in interior rooms in the house so they are somewhat insulated from those loud concussions will help as well," said Dr. Mary Wictor from Airport Animal Hospital.

Another tip is to distract your pet with an activity so they won't be anxious.
