Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Veterans Remembrance Dinner at the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center in Duluth served to honor.

Thursday night's event paid tribute to the men and women who have fought the "Global War on Terror," including veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The keynote speaker was retired Command Sergeant Major John Werner, who served more than 40 years in the military including the Vietnam War.

His final tour of duty was in Afghanistan.

"It is gratifying to see the American public stick with these soldiers thru the long war, 11 years," Command Sgt. Major Werner said. "It is gratifying to see them stick with the veteran."

Proceeds from the event will help support the Veterans' Memorial Hall program of the St. Louis County Historical Society.
