DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -Rock Legend Elton John is performing for nearly eight thousand fans at the Amsoil Arena tonight in Duluth.
It's Elton's first appearance in the city, and the fever has been building ever since the tickets went on sale in February.
For tickets, it was a matter of ready, set, go. You had to be quick to get them at regular price.
"We were on ticket master, right when they, right when they went hot and I kept clicking and clicking and clicking and I finally got on," said a fan at the concert.
The golden tickets to, arguably the biggest name to come to Amsoil Arena, sold-out within minutes.
"I think every body looking forward to having a great night, beautiful weather, downtown Duluth, Canal Park's going to be rockin' tonight," said Dan Russell, the DECC's executive director.
"It's a great concert for Duluth. It's a much bigger name than we're used to seeing and we're very glad to be here," said a fan.
"Elton John right now is really, kind of, one of the most popular artists in the world," said Russell.
"I've tried to see him several times before this, always sold out, anyways, it was so easy," said another fan, while a fan without tickets said," I just want to buy three tickets if anybody has them.".
"I really hope he sings, of course, "Crocodile rock," said a fan.
"Something about the way you look tonight," 'cause it's the song I sing for my wife regularly," said another fan.
Though he'll be in Duluth for the first time, Elton i's not sticking around.
"People don't hang around the doors, by the time you're done clapping, he's probably back on his airplanes," said Russell.
Elton John's people told the DECC's director that Elton loves playing in venues like Amsoil and that he likes to visit places he hasn't been before.
