Duluth, MN (Northland’s NewsCenter) --- A 148th Fighter Wing airman presented a combat flag, that flew in a mission in Iraq, to students at Stowe Elementary, Tuesday.
Master Sergeant Dave Blazevic, who recently returned from Kandahar, Afghanistan, talked with second graders about life during the war.
Students also learned about the history of the war and modern politics.
Master Sergeant Blazevic says the students are curious and had a lot of good questions.
A lot of the boys are interested in what the airplane does and what we did over there. Whereas, the girls are thinking more of family interests and maybe what my daughter went through while I was gone.
Nearly 300 Airmen in all, or 30 percent of the 148th Fighter Wing, were deployed in August in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
