Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Nordic skiers of all ages were encouraged to hit their favorite trails, and explore new ones, Saturday.

It's all part of the Tour Duluth Cross Country Ski Event, held throughout the city.

From Spirit Mountain to Lester River, skiers of all skill levels were invited to take part in everything from one kilometer to 14 K classic or skate style skiing courses.

Nordic skier Austin Kindt and rookie skier Kaitlyn Barr said it was the best day of the year so far for sharpening their skills, and enjoying the outdoors.

"It was the perfect day. It was the best day of the year. Temperatures were great," said Barr.

"Yeah, I picked up more speed today, and I think it's because it wasn't so cold," said Kindt.

"She's used to the cold, though, because she's from Canada."

But skiers weren't the only ones out enjoying the warmer temps in Lester.

A vintage snowmobile ride was also sharing the park with skiers.
