Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - UW Superior students and community members met today for a march in honor of the late Bayard Rustin.
Rustin was an American leader and human rights advocate that lived into the late eighties.
He was known for being a mentor of Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights Movement.
Today's march is organized by the by the UWS Gender Equality Center, Alliance, and its Black Student Union.
"In the community, we've done things like the unfair campaign and different things to acknowledge minorities in the area because we don't have much of that going on. That's part of our effort to be a little more progressive as a campus and be more accepting and create a warmer climate for LGBT and people of color," Jewleah Johnson, UWS Gender Equality Resource Center, said.
The march came to an end on the Superior government center grounds.
