Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- What appears to be a high school prank could result in some serious repercussions.

The new Duluth East High School was severely vandalized.

According to Duluth police, a motorist called authorities just after 1:00 a.m Friday when they noticed trees strewn with toilet paper at the school, and a group of kids running around on the property.

When police arrived, they found the parking lot and part of the school covered in spray paint, and portions of the property covered in eggs and several windows broken.

Crews began cleaning up the mess first thing this morning but say it will take some time and expense to clean up the extensive mess.

Police say pranks between schools are common, but this instance was taken to a more serious level and they're now concerned about retaliation.

Authorities are in the midst of adding up the cost of the damages.
Because the vandalism was so great, whoever is responsible could face felony charges.
