Cloquet, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) Authorities have identified the little boy who tragically drowned in a community pool in Cloquet Thursday.
Six year old Wyatt A. Hanna of Duluth drowned Thursday afternoon in the Pinehurst Pool in Cloquet.
Information about the incident continues to filter in slowly, but witnesses at the pool say the boy was removed from the water wearing a life jacket.
The pool remains closed Friday, which will likely continue through the weekend.
The Cloquet City Administrator Brian Fritsinger said Wyatt was on a community education field trip, and that the lifeguards did everything they could to resuscitate the child.
"The lifeguards from discussion from our medical professionals that responded to the call, the lifeguards did everything that they're supposed to do in terms of the care in trying to work on the situation."
Emily Michelle who is the aquatic supervisor at the University of Minnesota Duluth said, "You hope you're never in that situation, but at the same time you're always trying to prepare for that situation and I know that as a supervisor you kind of just go over everything, like, did we do everything right? Yeah we did do everything right."
While she wasn't involved with Thursday's drowning, she says her heart goes out to the lifeguards who were on duty and the family struggling with the loss.
