Virginia Schools Superintendent Candidate Declines Job Offer

VIRGINIA, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)---The candidate chosen to become the new Virginia Schools superintendent has declined the job offer.

Frank Schill, a current superintendent at Cavalier Schools in North Dakota notified the school board he would not be taking the job.

The board is now offering the position to its second choice, Deron Stender, a former superintendent of the Frazee-Vergas School District in Minnesota.

Pending a full background check, the board will vote on a contract for Stender at its next meeting on March 26.

The current superintendent, Chuck Futterer, is retiring at the end of June.
