Duluth, MN (NNCNOW) --- Community members put on their gardening gloves for the 11th annual downtown dig this morning.
Volunteers planted flowers to beautify Duluth.
The rain and cold slowed the start of the planting but it didn't stop the eager volunteers.
President of the Greater Downtown Council, Kristi Stokes, said this planting is a gift that keeps on giving.
"This is just a great opportunity for people to lend a helping hand. So many people say, 'How can we help out?' Or, 'What can we do?' This is a great way for them to be able to see, throughout the season, what they have done and how they've helped beautify our downtown waterfront.," said President of Duluth Downtown Council, Kristi Stokes.
The Greater Downtown Council also had volunteers plant flowers in 140 hanging baskets that will be distributed throughout the downtown area next week.
