GRAND RAPIDS, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)---One Munchkin from the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie traveled from Georgia to is celebrate the 36th annual Judy Garland Festival in Grand Rapids this weekend.
In 1928, when Karl Slover was 9-years old he left his home in Budapest with the Original World Famous Singers and Midgets.
He traveled with the group until he was 14-years old.
Karl Slover was just 21–years old when he filmed the movie.
He was featured in four munchkin parts in the film. His roles included the first trumpeter, one of the soldiers, one of the sleepyheads coming out of the nest of eggs and one of the munchkins that told Dorothy to follow the yellow brick road.
Now at 92 years of age, he still remembers the words to the song.
"We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz. We hear he is a whiz of a wiz, if ever a wiz there was, if ever-oh-ever a wiz there was, the Wizard of Oz is one because, because, because, because, because! Because of the wonderful things he does! Tra-la-la-la-la-la -lah. We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz," said Slover.
Karl is in the process of writing his own biography.
